Nagapooshani amman temple

  Nainativu Nagapooshani Amman Temple is one of the famous ancient worship places in Jaffna, Sri Lanka.
This temple was in “Nainativu” in Jaffna (20Km far away from Jaffna town) and surrounding environment of this temple was very beautiful and fully decorated by sea water. Most of the Hindus worship this “Nainativu   Amman” and it was one of the ancient historical and tourist places in the world.
This temple had more interesting
stories behind that: some of the stories decorated this temple was a “Puvaneswary Peedam” and five headed King cobra brought some flowers on its mouth and worshipped this Amman. One of the historical evident (Manimegalai which is one of the tamil literature) noticed that this temple was destroyed by the Portuguese in 1620 and it was rebuilt during 1720 to 1790.
The annual high festivals in the temple are held in Tamil month of June for sixteen days.  This temple has a chariot festival which is ever seen in the world only in this temple. It has a tallest eastern “Raja gopuram” soared at 108 feet high. This is one of the worship place as well as tourist place because not for Sri Lankans but also other country tourist are coming and gifted their devotes.
The Hidues called this temple “Manipallavativu” because this name was in “Manimegalai”. Nainativu is act as a relationship bridge for Hindus and Buddhist because “Nagatheepam” was there which is the worship place is for Lord Buddha. So, each year100, 000 pilgrims are visited in to this temple from other countries. But some politicians are using this place for their political based activities. Each of the Sri Lankan should preserve worship place.  Some of the religious related books were written by N.K. Shanmuganathapillai and Muthukumara suvamiyar on this temple.
